
As a practicing architect with his own firm since 1989, Ralph Gentile has designed a wide variety of successful restaurants, retail, health spas and commercial projects in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Tampa and New York.
Recent projects include five restaurants for the Cache Creek Casino in Brooks, California: C2 Steak House, Loco Caliente, Oak Creek Café, and The Bluepoint. The Hard Rock Hotel in Tampa opened in March 2004, including 250 luxury guest rooms and suites. In August 2003, the Pala Casino Hotel and Resort debuted, featuring hotel guest rooms and suites, hotel reception, the Pala Health Spa, and Mama’s Cucina Italiana, designed by Mr. Gentile.
Projects in Las Vegas include A.J.’s Steakhouse, The Rock Spa, and the Counter Coffee Shop at the Hard Rock Hotel.
Successful projects also include Nobu – Malibu, Zeke’s Smokehouse, Ago Restaurant, Josie Restaurant, Real Food Daily, Le Colonial, Atlantic Cafe, and Felt.
Mr. Gentile also designed Papashon – Long Beach, Papashon – San Francisco, Dominick’s, Lucky 7 Restaurant & Bar, Woodfire Bagel Company, Mexicali Cucina & Cantina, Bistro Garden To Go; and Rosti Tuscan Take-Home in San Francisco, Thousand Oaks and Burlingame.
His retail work comprises the Replay Country Stores in New York and Los Angeles; Diego Della Valle/J.P.Todd’s in Beverly Hills; and J. Crew, Los Angeles.
Mr. Gentile earned a Master of Architecture from UCLA and a Bachelor of Art & Environmental Studies from Antioch College. He served as Adjunct Assistant Professor at the University of Southern California, School of Architecture, and as visiting faculty at Arizona State University, Tempe.
Prior to establishing his own firm, Mr. Gentile worked in the offices of Frederick Fisher, Frank Gehry, Arthur Erickson and Robert Mangurian in Los Angeles; Tod Williams & Billie Tsien in New York City; and The Architects’ Collaborative and Lozano, White and Associates in Boston.
Mr. Gentile’s work has been exhibited in Los Angeles, Phoenix, and New York, and published in The New York Times, Interiors, The Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Magazine, Progressive Architecture, Hospitality Design, Visual Merchandising & Store Design, Vogue, Buzz, and LA Style.
